Therapists' Forum

One of the issues often raised by counsellors and therapists is the absence of opportunities for networking, sharing issues of concern, being part of a Personal Development Group, and generally meeting other therapists.

The Liverpool Empowerment Centre is establishing a monthly Therapists' Forum for Counsellors and Psychotherapists.

The Forum will have no annual fee but there will be a joining fee of £10 to assist with administrative expenses such as arranging meetings, contacting members and arranging speakers. (The room hire fee will be met by the Centre). In order to maintain their membership, individuals must attend at least three monthly meetings a year to demonstrate their commitment to the Forum's development.

It is intended the monthly meetings will be in two sections, the first being a talk or discussion on a topic of mutual interest. The second part will be an opportunity for social contact over tea and biscuits. A small voluntary contribution to refreshments at the monthly meetings will be appreciated but home-baking will be even more appreciated!!

It is the LEC's intention to obtain the services of popular and well-known speakers in the field and membership of the Forum will entitle therapists to a discount on workshop fees. Membership of the Forum will also qualify the individual for a discount on any other workshop run by the Centre, most of which will qualify for Continuing Professional Development.

If the Forum proves popular and successful it is hoped to be able to establish small Personal Development Groups and obtain the services of experienced facilitators.
