Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills
Those wishing to study at Diploma Level must have successful completed the ABC Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills or produce evidence of having met the equivalent standards, including assessment, elsewhere. A reference confirming successful completion of the course must be shown.

Successful completion of the course and the award of the ABC Level 4 Diploma in the Theory and Practice of Counselling will be based upon at least 80% attendance (including attendance at residential training courses or their equivalent) and the demonstration of:-
An understanding of Professional and Organisational Issues in Counselling based upon an Essay: 40% Pass – Internal Assessment.
An understanding of Counselling in a Diverse Society based upon an Essay: 40% Pass – Internal Assessment.
An understanding of Counselling Theory based upon an Essay: 40% Pass - Internal Assessment.
Advanced Counselling Skills based upon a Recording and Report: 40% Pass - Internal Assessment.
An appreciation of Self Awareness for Counsellors based upon a Statement: 40% Pass - Internal Assessment.
An understanding of Counselling Specialisms based upon a Verbal Presentation and Project Report: 40% pass - Internal Assessment.
A successful Counselling Placement based upon a Log Sheet, Placement study, Case Studies, and a Supervisor’s Report: 66% pass – External Assessment.
On successful completion of the Diploma, learners may progress onto Postgraduate and Post Qualifying courses in counselling studies that are designed to enhance the practice, skills and knowledge of a practising counsellor. This provides academic progression alongside a recognised career pathway.

COSTS - 2014/2016
This course which qualifies for a Level 4 Diploma costs £1360 per annum plus the cost of a residential week-end or two study days (approx. £195 per annum). There is also a one-off Awarding Body registration fee, certificate fee and admin fee (approximately £165 in total).
A deposit of £200 secures a place upon the course after which payment by instalments may be available but once enrolled onto the course the student is contracted to completing and paying the full fee.
